Leszek Zabłocki alias ‘Jola’ was born in Warsaw on August 9, 1924. After graduation in 1941, he received a secondary education certificate and started a preparatory course for a vocational school. Just before he was arrested, he started his second year of studying at secondary school. Besides school and working at ‘Jola’ Trade Company, Leszek Zabłocki was involved in the conspiratorial activity in Lizard Union. Arrested on the night of September 17, 1942, he was sent to Pawiak Prison where he spent four months in isolation. On January 17, 1943, he was transported to the German concentration camp at Majdanek where he was forced to work at earthworks and in the potato storehouse. In March 1944, he was transported to KL Gross-Rosen and from there to Leitmeritz. He returned to Warsaw in May 1945 where he continued his education and graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics and Warsaw University of Life Sciences.
